Why the family spreadsheet stops working
Every household has tried it: a spreadsheet on Drive, one tab per month, everyone logs what they spent. It works until the first busy week. One person forgets, another types in the wrong row, the card total doesn't match the statement, and the conversation about money becomes a conversation about the spreadsheet.
MyMoney started as exactly that spreadsheet (the founder's own, see Why MyMoney) and is built to answer the three questions a family asks every month: how much do we have, how much is coming, how much is left.
How the shared space works
On the Premium plan you create a household: a workspace separate from your personal one. Each person you invite joins by email and gets a role, and from then on the accounts, cards, transactions and goals recorded there are visible to everyone.
Your personal space stays yours. You switch between "Personal" and "Household" with one click, and the two never mix, which is what settles the "is this expense yours or the house's?" question for good.
- Household accounts and cards in one ledger, with a consolidated balance.
- Credit card statements tracked month by month, with each card's closing and due dates.
- Goals in common: the trip, the emergency fund, the down payment, with the monthly-contribution simulator.
- Bill calendar for the household's bills, subscriptions and recurring charges.
- A role per person, so someone who only checks in can't edit by accident.

Nobody hands over a bank password
Privacy worries double in a household: two or more bank accounts are involved. MyMoney never asks for a bank login. Each person logs what they spent through the quick modal (seconds) or imports a statement in OFX, CSV or XLSX straight from their bank's app. See Import bank statements.
Open Finance integration is in development and will be optional: anyone who prefers manual entry keeps it. Details in Finance app without a bank connection.
What it costs for the whole family
The shared space is part of the Premium plan, and one subscription covers the whole household: there is no per-seat charge. The 7-day trial asks for no credit card; add the accounts, invite the people you live with, and decide at the end. Prices are in Pricing.

- How many people can join the household?
- As many as you invite. Premium is billed per subscription, not per person, and accounts, cards and goals are unlimited.
- Does my partner see my personal finances?
- No. The personal space is yours alone. Only what you record inside the household space is shared, and you switch between the two whenever you like.
- Does it work for couples without a joint account?
- Yes. Each person adds their own accounts and cards to the household space and the app consolidates the house's balance and spending, even with money at different banks.
- Do I have to connect my bank?
- No. You enter transactions by hand or import a statement in OFX, CSV or XLSX. Open Finance is coming as an option, not a requirement.
- What if we cancel?
- You export everything in CSV, XLSX or OFX at any time, and the file re-imports. The data is yours and leaves when you do. See If I cancel, do I lose my data?
